I don’t mean to actually kiss your backup, although you might if you ever need it. By K.I.S.S. I mean Keep It Simple Stupid. A less offensive term would be to use the Principle of Parsimony when it comes to backing up your data.
What does that mean exactly? It means don’t make things more complicated then they need to be. Backing up your data should not be a difficult or complicated process. If it is, you won’t do it and if the backup is complicated think about what happens when you need to restore data. After all, the backup is all about the restore… nobody backs up for fun.
In an effort to make things easier for you, I will be providing useful information and resources on data backup, disaster recovery (DR) and other backup related topics in following posts.
Until then.
